Tyne & Wear Back To Winning Ways
Tyne & Wear got back to winning ways with a 24-15 win against Merseyside this Weekend.
The Ladies B team kicked off with Chris Shortland winning her first game of the season winning 3-1 with a 15.14 average, Merseyside hit back with a win from Karen O’Conner, next up was Claire Proctor who produced a lady of the match performance, wining 3-0 with a 18.79 average, with the score at 2-1 to Tyne & Wear the game was finely balanced with the next two games going with the throw, Caroline Dorothy winning the fifth game, including a 110 checkout to give the home side a 3-2 lead, Katherine Wilcock was up last for the B ladies. After going one nil up against Viv Cullimore, things looked good for the home side, but Viv hit back taking the next three legs and gaining the lady of the match award 16.86 and securing a 3-3 result.
The Men’s B team were up next with John Nicholson and with some brilliant darts being thrown. It was the visitors who took the first game winning 3-2 Tyne and Wear then surged ahead, winning the next four games, Richie Jerry (19.23) Thomas Chaters Man of the Match (23.86 ) Ray Ryan (19.80) Paul Hodge ( 21.47) Merseyside took the next two with wins for Anthony O’Neil and Alan McGee Dave White got back to winning ways with a 3-1 win.
( 22.64 ) But, it was the visitors who took the grip on the match winning the last four games to give the them a 2 point advantage going into the A games on the Sunday.
Sue Edwards started the A team matches off, with another lady of the match performance (21.30), winning 3-1, Merseyside took the next two to restore there 2 point advantage then the home side started the comeback taking the last three ladies matches with wins from Ann-Marie Potts (18.65) Meg Cullen (19.19) and Maureen Purvis (16.13) to leave the home side one ahead overall.
Next up were the men, with Neil rose carrying on the good form winning 3-1 (26.11) and checking out on 146 to win the match. Billy Todd was next up and despite checking out on 131 went on to lose 3-1. Chris Lisle took the next point winning 3-1, next up was Tyne & Wear captain Andy Chalmers and with a brilliant captains performance and winning a well deserved Man of the match performance (33.40) Tyne & Wear were in control of the game. Tyne and Wear went on to win 6 out of the last 8 games with wins from Paul McGowan (23.48) Paul Williams (26.84) Steve Robertson (26.84) Dave Bullerwell (22.88) and Steve Newton (22.77) to give the home side a well deserved victory
24-15. Next up is a tricky away trip to Avon.
